Company Management

Alexis Sheldon, MA, Cert. TEFL

Founder and CEO/Managing Director

A Cambridge University graduate, Alexis speaks English, advanced Russian and Portuguese, intermediate French, Italian, Spanish and Hebrew, and elementary Mandarin Chinese and German. A qualified TEFL teacher, Alexis also holds an MA in Tourism Management from Brighton University. Alexis has over 7 years teaching experience in schools from Israel to Argentina and was previously responsible for establishing and running the corporate training division of another leading UK language school. In 2004, Alexis founded the company and created the language instructor database and website with online quote and ordering system to cater for group and one-to-one language courses for businesses and individuals worldwide. Alexis is responsible for running sales, business development and ongoing training operations with a multinational managerial and customer service team and a large network of qualified native speaker language trainers worldwide.

Among his other projects are Fast Lane which specializes in multilingual SEO and Translation Central which oversees translation services.

Richard Sheldon, MA, MBA

CFO

Richard brings more than 20 years of experience in finance, capital raising and strategy to Language Trainers. He has held management positions in both private and public companies and has been instrumental in directing the growth strategy, producing bottom line results. Richard has extensive experience in the internet, technology and services industries. Prior to joining Language Trainers, he provided CFO consulting and capital raising services to small and middle market companies. Richard has also held CFO positions at ECONnergy Energy Company, Concrete Inc. and Weatherford Global Compression Services and is currently also the CFO of ContextWeb. In addition, Richard was a business development executive at GE Capital and a strategy consultant at McKinsey & Company. Richard started his career at Arthur Andersen in London where he became a Chartered Accountant. Richard holds an MA from Oxford University and an MBA from Columbia Business School.

Jon Pokroy, BA, Dip. TEFL

Academic Advisor

A Cambridge University graduate (BA Hons Philosophy), Jon is also an experienced English teacher, having worked in Spain, Germany and London for over 18 years. Jon speaks English, and fluent German and Spanish. Jon holds a Diploma in Teaching English as a Foreign Language from the world renowned International House training center in London. Jon has worked training executives in English for Specific Purposes and producing courses for Specific Purposes for corporations, universities and the British Council. Jon has also worked as an IELTS examiner for the British Council.
